2010 Youth Venture Summit
The 2010 Youth Venture Summit was hosted by the University of Miami, in Miami, FL. It attracted 145 participants from the US and from around the world. Focused on peer-to-peer learning, the Summit aimed to showcase solutions that are transforming social change around the US and the world, share best practices and experiences, foster new innovations, and develop partnerships that provide solutions to environmental, economic, educational and societal challenges.
Participants included current and former Youth Venturers, young leaders launching new Ventures, Ashoka Fellows, and adult allies, mentors, and parents who support these young changemakers. Youth participants - ranged in age from 12-22 - traveled to Miami from 25 different US states and 10 countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, South Korea, and Peru.

Ben Jervey

Ben Jervey helps mainstream audiences understand climate and energy issues. He writes, ‘The New Ideal’, a weekly column for GOOD Magazine and he serves as Community Editor for OnEarth Magazine. Ben was named the Planet Ambassador to the Pepsi Refresh Project and he recently published a book called “The Big Green Apple”. His journalism and climate change work have taken him around the world, from New York to Greenland to Vietnam. As a bicycle enthusiast, Ben has also ridden across the United States and through much of Europe!
Divine Bradley

Founder, Team Revolution
Divine Bradley is a Renaissance man: social entrepreneur, motivational speaker, team trainer, community leader, fundraiser, award winner, producer, recording artist, and marketing consultant. Divine is the founding CEO of BE IT, LLC, and Role “model” of Polo Ralph Lauren’s G.I.V.E. campaign and is a subject of the critically acclaimed and award-winning documentary, The Hip Hop Project. At age seventeen Divine launched his Venture, Team Revolution, a non-profit organization which exists to create the next generation of community leaders and social entrepreneurs by providing self-development programs for young people in disadvantaged communities.
Molly Barker

Founder, Girls on the Run
Molly Barker, four-time Hawaii Ironman triathlete and Ashoka Fellow, is the founder of Girls on the Run, an innovative, experiential program which combines training for a 5k event with confidence building lessons that enhance the physical and mental health of 8 – 12 year old girls. The organization has been featured in numerous international media outlets including People, Runner’s World, 0 Magazine, Self, Shape, ESPN, and Forbes.
The Summit featured 33 different workshops, most of which were conducted by Youth Venturers themselves. The workshops addressed a number of themes, including technology, storytelling, social media and fundraising. Here are some examples:
